Description
With a cotton sateen weave, Riley White Goose Down Comforters are so soft and pretty you’ll (almost) think of ditching a duvet cover.
Our white goose down comforters come in 2 levels of warmth: Our All-Season comforters are filled with 700 Fill Power white goose down. The Extra Warm level is (over)filled with 750 fill power white goose down. We used even more down and a higher fill power to make sure that it’s as extra warm as it sounds.
Our down carries the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). This means that the entire supply chain is strictly governed by standards that ensure humane animal treatment as well as the highest-quality down.
These comforters have a baffle box construction which prevents the down fill from shifting to one part of the comforter.
Just for fun, we even embroidered a playful little “R” onto one of the corners. We also sewed in loops to attach to our duvet cover ties so your comforter doesn’t slide around inside your Riley duvet covers.
The goose down comforter comes with a 5 year warranty. We’ve got your back.

Great quality. I have not and do not plan on washing this or any other comforter, I dry clean only no matter what the label says. It does fluff up nicely (I’m not sure what ppl are expecting when they use the term fluff… it’s a down comforter not a terry cloth robe), after 2 days or so. I did put it in the dryer with a couple of dryer sheets and the scent (you know, from plastic packaging) was gone in 3-4 days.

Soft and cozy. This comforter has really made it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. When I first got it, I was absolutely certain I would hate it and I even put into motion the return process. It felt rough on my hands when I expected it to be very soft. But my husband and I couldn't return it till the next day so we decided to try in out for the night. After "sleeping on it" the cotton seemed to break in and it grew noticeably softer after a couple days.

Quest is over!. My new fiance has sleep apnea and all around just has a hard time sleeping, he had this cheap polyester filled comforter that made him sweat like a pig and he would wake up in the night. When I moved in I brought with me all of my down pillows and my fluffy down blanket. Turns out, hes a blanket thief. Then it was my turn to wake up in the middle of the night but I woke up to the cold because of him taking MY blanket in his sleep, and so the quest was on to find him a blanket that will firstly and most importantly help him sleep well; and secondly, one that he loves so much he will stop stealing my blanket. I like sleeping in a cool bedroom, and the All Season is plenty warm without being overly warm and I don't have to sleep with my socks on any longer! Occasionally I throw a light cover on top, and this gives us maximum versatility for warmth and comfort. It's extremely cozy, doesn't make 'noise', and I find that the down distributes wonderfully! Great customer service. Tried both the all-season and the extra warm comforters and both are great: incredibly comfortable and well made. Started with the all-season, which worked well for me, but my partner wanted something a bit warmer so we swapped. I prefer to sleep in a cooler environment, but I must admit that the extra fluff in the extra warm makes it quite comfy (and since it's down, it isn't overly stuffy).
As important as the quality of the product though was the quality of the customer service. We had a bit of a snafu with our exchange, but the customer service team was both responsive and incredibly helpful. They certainly have a "do the right thing" mentality and they went out of their way to make things right. Most people considering this purchase probably won't ever have a problem, but it's nice to know that if you do, the person on the other end of the line actually cares.

After some research, I ordered the Riley All-Season comforter because of the awesome reviews. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed at how flat it was and that I could see that the down filling was not full or stuffed. I thought that I would have more cold nights, even with this comforter. Well… I have to say, it shut me up immediately! This comforter works TOO well. It is super comfortable and plush when it puffs up, but I had to pull it off of my bed after the 2nd night because I was getting too hot and waking up sweating!! I turned down the a/c, turned up the ceiling fan, and slept with less clothes. Still too hot; still sweating. So I will say this… this comforter performs WAY better than I expected and I will have to save it for winter months. Using it now (even though it is All-Season) is keeping me up at night. They are on all the beds now and we LOVE them.Two are all season warmth and the other "extra warmth". Both qualities are superb: Fluffy, super high loft, lovely materials, excellent distribution of down, and nice sewn-in loops to attach to the duvet cover. The extra warmth is definitely thicker and more lofty, but it is also much hotter which isn't appropriate for everyone. I agonized a bit over which ones to buy and I would say all season is best for most people. The extra warmth is delicious, but people who run a bit hot might be kicking it off a lot. No matter what, I love my comforters, even after using LL bean comforters, Feathered Friends, and other more standard brands. These comforters are worth every penny, and I think will make them my go-to wedding gift! They are wonderful!

Really great quality here. That said, we sleep with the windows slightly open in the winter so the bedroom is in the high 50's or low 60's at night. And this comforter is TOO WARM! I checked with Riley about how it is labeled to make sure we got the correct product, and yes, it is an all season comforter. But, I will have to buy something lighter (and Riley doesn't make anything) for the spring and fall season. Cozy & Warm. Purchased this after spending a few weeks digging through reviews and researching options for the perfect RDS-certified, washable down comforter. I have never spent much on comforters as I typically purchase down alternatives, so I wanted to make sure I made the best choice. I received my comforter very quickly (less than a week!) which was a wonderful surprise. Upon first inspection, I honestly wasn't very impressed — the 'All Season' comforter seemed thin and lifeless right out of the package.
To remedy this, I popped it into the wash and followed the care instructions to dry immediately on low with a few wool dryer balls. Although we have a top-loading machine with an agitator, the comforter didn't seem to mind the rough washing. It actually fluffed up considerably after tumble drying low, and the plastic smell that's common in comforter bags was gone immediately. My husband, pup and I have slept with the comforter for about a week now and can definitely tell that our previous comforters were terrible quality in comparison.
I often have a hard time sleeping with comforters and duvets that are too lightweight, and although this is very "airy" feeling, kind of like you're sleeping between a cloud, I found that this doesn't gap and have a "floating" feeling I found with down alternatives. It has the perfect amount of weight to it and really envelops you as you sleep. It also seems to keep us (me: always cold, my husband: always hot) the perfect temperature while we sleep. We keep our heat around 68 degrees F during the Southern California winter, so I will have to update this review in the summer, but I'm pretty impressed think it will work well to keep us cool then too.

Very soft but does not hold in down. I’m really sad to be returning my Riley down comforter. The first one I received was incredibly soft and warm and I loved it. However, I noticed down and feathers coming out through my duvet cover and going everywhere. I was told to put in dryer with wool balls. I did. It didn’t improve. Got a replacement and hoped for the better. The replacement is supposed to be the same but honestly doesn’t feel as soft and fluffy or as warm. Hmm… anyway, I got it into my duvet cover and hoped it would work out. I started seeing pieces of down poking through duvet cover again, this time they were smaller in size but much more than before. Wool balls in dryer didn’t do anything. If only I could post photos.
I don’t understand how no reviews mention any of this? Did I get unlucky twice? Doubt it. I really want to rate 1-star but giving it 3 for the general comfort. Maybe I’ll have to spend $500+ for something that doesn’t leak down and feathers everywhere.

It’s ok. I was happy to find an all goose down duvet (though this one is 85% goose down) but was very underwhelmed when I pulled it out of the package. It’s flat as a pancake. My current down duvet from another brand is a 650 fill power and has twice the amount of loft (that one is 100% down). The good thing is the Riley duvet doesn’t have any type of gamey smell but I am still returning it because the all season is not warm enough and I actually prefer a heavier down duvet. Riley customer service is great though – but their down duvet missed the mark for me.

I normally don't go for the expensive upgrade, but I've purchased two of these comforters now for my house. The down is light and airy. It's breathable enough to use in summer months and in winter. Expensive but so cozy. Honestly, I had my doubts. I purchased the Full/Queen All Season comforter. I knew I wanted a fluffy, cozy, and long lasting comforter to replace my old ratty one. Down overwhelmingly seemed to be the best way to get that. Riley was well reviewed everywhere, used ethically sourced down, and they were having a sale at the time. This was more than a splurge for me, it was a lot of money to spend on something like this. I almost just immediately returned it because I couldn't stomach spending so much on a comforter. But I decided to just get it out of the bag at least and it was so cozy and fluffy. It doesn't look like it's going to be fluffy but once you unfold it and let it air a bit, it really is. It's a little big for my Full size duvets but it works out since it scrunches up and makes it more cozy. I could see the big difference in loft vs my old down alternative comforter. This thing so amazingly cozy and VERY warm. It really is like wrapping yourself up in a heated cloud. It's got a good weight to it. I'm very curious about how this will hold up but using duvets and taking care a well made down comforter should last a very long time. So I view it as an investment in my comfort and I'm allowed nice things every so often (I'm still struggling with the price if you can't tell lol). I debated between 4 and 5 stars based solely on the price. It's so expensive. But I did some research before purchasing and it's pretty on par price wise. It really is a perfect comforter, I almost look forward to getting into bed now.

I originally purchased the All Season, but after a couple nights realized it was far too light. I live in a cooler part of the US, where nights are almost always 45 – 60 degrees F. I will say we ordered the king size for our queen bed so we wouldn’t be fighting for covers, and we are glad we did because it fits our queen bed perfectly. I’m not sure what size we would need if we get a king bed in the future.

A Very Pleased Customer. After reading reviews on line about the best comforters, I decided to choose to buy from Riley, which had very high recommendations. I bought the extra warm comforter. I am very pleased with it! It is very warm and fluffy, but not heavy. It also does not cause me to sweat and the feathers don't shift or come out.
I also have to compliment the customer service department. UPS misplaced the comforter and I was not receiving it in a timely manner. I called Riley customer service and they were very helpful. They immediately put in a claim with UPS and sent me a replacement.

Although a bit pricey, the comforter is warm, but does not make me hot during the night. The fill level makes it much puffier than my last comforter. Riley Extra warm VS. The Company Store Luxury Royal Down. We live in Chicago and the winters here are brutal. I sleep cold and my husband sleeps hot on most days all year. My husband can’t stand to be weighed down so we’ve always used heated mattress pads. We’re very health conscious so we’ve never been keen on the idea of EMF (electromagnetic field radiation). So we sought out electric blankets that shielded EMF. Regardless, it still made us uncomfortable. We were never able to find anything warm and light enough to suit our needs. We’re used to Arcteryx quality insulated outerwear and Four seasons quality bedding, just for reference. If you’re used to quality outerwear, you’d know that high fill equals the relative quality of down per cubic inch, meaning, they can pack a bigger punch in a very small punch. Lo and behold, a patient recommended the Riley extra warm goose down. Amazing! We both love it and sleep so much better for it. We use a Parcale duvet cover in the summer when we need more breathability and Sateen cover in the winter when we need a little extra warmth and insulation. It truly is worth it. We own a Company store goose down that we paid double for, a little over $1200 that is comparable but heavier. Love both but love the Riley’s a little bit more. Plus, at half the price, it’s more affordable. You won’t regret it!

WOW. Just got my package delivered and Riley was so communicative with the emails. Letting me know my order was confirmed, shipped, out for delivery, and that it had been delivered! I live in So California and bought the all season down comforter a few months ago, I wanted to wait until I used it in summer, winter and wash it before I wrote a review. I was surprised because it's SO lightweight it feels like it's floating when it's on me but somehow still gives warmth! I do have to push it off in the summer since I get hot and In the winter I do need an extra blanket on top since I do get cold and I like some weight on me, but I still love the comfort and use it everyday! If I could get the warmer one I would probably have both but this one still works for both. I do not use a duvet cover over it but I do wish the material on the outside was softer. It is thinner (not thick or super puffy) than I expected but it's still fluffy, if that makes sense. I washed & dried it in my front loading washer & dryer, it was squished but had no issues and is exactly the same after washing. I rarely ever see a feather fall out! It doesn't have much of a feather smell (just slightly, barely noticeable) like some I have tried. It doesn't make much noise (just barely) when I move around either. I got the king size, I have a very thick mattress and nothing is ever long enough on the sides, this was does have good overhang, it's still doesn't completely cover my deep mattress but better than most! I've researched a bunch and tried a few other brands and I love this one and would definitely recommend! Customer service is also great!

Warm and comfy. I bought a queen size Riley All Season down comforter to replace my old duvet. I live in San Francisco and even the All Season one is pretty warm. It's great for the winter but I have yet to see whether it will be too warm in the summer. If you sleep warm, the All Season might be a little too warm but otherwise it will probably be fine. I had also hoped the duvet would be a little fluffier given the fill count but it's a little flatter than expected. Finally, when I measured the duvet, it ended up being about an inch and a half shorter than advertised (about 88 1/2 inches rather than 90 inches). Overall, I would recommend this duvet but it does have a few minor shortcomings which is why I subtracted one star.

Thick and Cozy. I tried 5 comforters and landed on this one! I found the Riley comforters to be much more soft/squishy and quiet compared to others. Cheaper comforters felt almost stiff to me, and also made a lot of noise when you squeezed/moved them. I first ordered the all season Riley comforter and while it was sufficient from a warmth standpoint, I found it to be too thin for my liking. I’ve been on the hunt for something I enjoyed from a feel and look standpoint, and I like the look of a really lofty plush comforter. Since I liked how it felt I tried the extra warm. It was by far the most full/lofty comforter I had tried. It looked similar to when I put two comforters in my duvet cover. It is also very soft/quiet like the all season was. I will say it is definitely very warm. I am not uncomfortable when I have shorts/tank top on but I have been used to sleeping in warm pants and a sweatshirt in mid-west winters (I tend to sleep cold) and I would definitely be too hot doing that with this comforter. One major bonus is I felt like my feet were always cold in the past and I slept with thick socks on in the winter. Now I can sleep barefoot and my feet are nice and warm! On top of all this, you can tell it is very well-made and the ties in the corners are very nice. I haven’t washed it yet but I have had no issues with the down shifting or feathers coming out. Overall would definitely recommend for a cold climate/sleeper who likes the look of a puffy comforter!

Go with the winter comforter, not all season. I first bought the all season comforter. It was not great. It’s quite thin and if that’s what you like, best to just get something cheaper. But I returned it for the think winter comforter, and it is PERFECTION. It’s super light but fluffy and far warmer than you’d expect from the weight. Does not last. We purchased the king duvet in 2020 now just 2 years later it’s as of the feathers have disappeared from most of the duvet. We have been careful to follow care instructions. I couldn't give the remaining three stars because of how many FEATHERS have infested my partner and I's home. We initially had bought the lighter version of the comforter, but decided to return it once we started to realize feathers were starting to get all over our place. Thinking the issue would be solved with a new (and more expensive with greater quality – so we thought) comforter, we ordered the Goose Down comforter. Sure enough, it didn't take long for feathers to start piling up all over the place. We didn't think much of it at first, but started to realize that every morning both my partner and I would wake up stuffy with puffy and itchy eyes (nope, we weren't sick either).
Customer service was helpful in facilitating the return / replacement order and assured that the issue of the feathers coming out of the comforter was a matter of the past. Sadly, this was not the case for us.
Needless to say, if you're looking for a low-maintenance comforter, this is NOT the product for you. I've you're cool with the goose feathers all over your home, this IS the product for you.

2 years in – Still feathers everywhere. We have had our duvet for 2 years now and while it is comfortable it is super frustrating to continue to see a ton of feathers come out and float around in the air EVERY time we remove our duvet cover to was hit. It has been like this since we first started using the duvet, and we were hoping it would get better. Unfortunately it doesn't. We are looking to replace it now.

Doesn’t last considering the price. We’ve had this all season, king-sized goose down comforter since June 2020. It’s light and comfortable no matter the season so in that sense, I recommend it. It’s easy to wash, and I have not experienced feathers escaping at all. The down side is now in September 2023 I can no longer ignore the fact that the feathers seem to have moved to one end leaving the majority of the comforter completely thin. Considering there appear to be seams in between each square, I don’t know how this is possible. This didn’t happen spontaneously 3 years later, it’s been this way for a very long time. Will need to purchase a new comforter at this point and will not be repurchasing this one since it’s almost $450.
